How does Firetalk work?+

Firetalk is a native macOS menu bar app. Hold a hotkey (Right Option by default), speak into your microphone, and release. Your audio is sent to our server, transcribed using OpenAI Whisper, and the text is pasted into whatever app you’re using — all in under a second.

Is my data private?+

Yes. Audio is transcribed in real time and immediately discarded — we never store your recordings or transcribed text. There are no analytics, no tracking, and no logs of your content.

What languages are supported?+

Firetalk supports 99 languages via OpenAI Whisper, including English, Spanish, French, German, Japanese, Chinese, Arabic, and many more. Language is detected automatically.

Can I use Firetalk with any app?+

Yes. Firetalk works system-wide — any app, any text field. Email, Slack, Google Docs, your IDE, notes apps, terminal — anywhere you can type, you can speak instead.

What happens when I hit the free limit?+

The free tier includes 30 minutes of transcription per day. Once you reach the limit, transcription pauses until the next day. You can upgrade to an Individual or Team plan for unlimited transcription.
