Firetalk is a macOS app for voice-to-text transcription. We are committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights.
When you use Firetalk, your audio is sent to our server for transcription via the OpenAI Whisper API. The audio is processed in real time and is not stored on our servers. Once transcription is complete, the audio data is discarded immediately.
The transcribed text is returned to the Firetalk app on your Mac and pasted into the active text field. We do not store, log, or retain any transcribed text on our servers.
We use the OpenAI Whisper API for transcription. Audio data is sent to OpenAI for processing. Please refer to OpenAI’s privacy policy for details on how they handle data.
Firetalk does not include any analytics, tracking, or telemetry. We do not track how you use the app, what you transcribe, or any other usage data.
If you create an account to access paid features, we store your email address and subscription status. Payment processing is handled by our payment provider — we do not store credit card numbers or financial details.
Audio recordings are never stored — they are processed in real time and discarded immediately after transcription. Transcribed text is not stored on our servers. Account data (email and subscription status) is retained for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, your account data is permanently removed within 30 days.
You have the right to delete your account at any time, request a copy of the personal data we hold about you, and opt out of any marketing communications. To exercise these rights, contact us at privacy@firetalk.app.
If you are a California resident, you have rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), including the right to know what personal information we collect and to request its deletion. If you are located in the European Economic Area, you have rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), including the right to access, correct, and delete your personal data. Firetalk is not intended for use by anyone under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that we have collected data from a child under 13, we will take steps to delete it promptly.
All data transmitted between the Firetalk app and our servers is encrypted using TLS (Transport Layer Security). Because we do not persistently store audio or transcribed text, there is no data at rest to secure. We regularly review our infrastructure to ensure your data remains protected in transit.
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you by posting a notice in the app or sending an email to the address associated with your account. Your continued use of Firetalk after such changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
